How to personalize your 511 dial-in experience
MNDOT’s traveler information is also available by dialing 5-1-1. Did you know you can use your 511 account to customize what you hear first? Here’s how:
Activate 'Dial-In' on your 511 account
- Create a personal 511 account
- Once you are logged in, click or tap the account icon in the top-right corner to access account settings. There are three tabs in the settings module:
- Profile
- Alerts
- Dial in
- Under the Dial In tab, toggle on the ‘Hear my favorites first when calling 511’ setting.
- By activating this feature, you will hear about critical disruptions and delays on your favorite routes when calling into MNDOT *511.
- Link up to three (3) phone numbers to use when calling into MNDOT *511.
Calling into 5-1-1
- Dial 5-1-1 using one of the saved phone numbers in your account settings .
- You will hear “Hi [first name], welcome back to Minnesota’s 511 system.”
- If there is a statewide alert, you will hear it first.
- All your saved routes with urgent traffic alerts will be announced. They will only be announced if you are dialing in within their active alert timeframe (customized per route).
